Wenatchee United FC appoint Ed Wierzbicki as first General Manager

WENATCHEE, WA— (club release) Wenatchee United Football Club (WUFC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Edward Wierzbicki as the General Manager of the club. Wenatchee United is one of the founding members of the Evergreen Premier League (EPLWA), a new adult Semi-Pro soccer league establishing its inaugural season in 2014.

“We are happy that Ed will be able to bring his experience, professionalism and organizational skills to our club and help our management team”, said Javier Reyna, Assistant Coach and club founder. “His role will be to represent us with the league, the media and the community, as well as to assist us in getting our new adult soccer program ready for its first season.”

Ed Wierzbicki is also involved in the Wenatchee area’s youth soccer administration as the President of the Wenatchee Valley Youth Soccer Association. He resides in Wenatchee but is a Chicago native who worked at a number of international consultancy firms, including one in the United Kingdom where he and his wife Genie lived for nearly 20 years. “I first got into soccer when my son Jack starting playing for a London youth team at 4 1/2 years of age”, said Ed. “I fell in love with the sport and my involvement grew, from helping to coach, to managing teams, to then serving on a regional soccer board here in Washington. I am very excited now to be able to apply those skills at WUFC and helping make EPLWA a success.”

Ed will be joining all the other representatives of founding member clubs on January 10-11 for EPLWA’s 1st AGM being held at the Coast Wenatchee Hotel. Topics to be discussed at the meeting include competition rules, game schedules/formats and the selection of various committees that will help operate the new league. The list of clubs attending are: Bellingham United FC, FC Three Rivers Tri-Cities, Seattle Stars FC, South Sound FC, Spokane SC Shadow, Vancouver Victory FC, WestSound FC and WUFC. The official playing season is expected to take place between May and July, with 7 home and 7 away games for each team.
