Hoppers rally to top Shadow in Spokane

SPOKANE, WA— The return of the Spokane -Yakima rivalry, with its roots going back nearly two decades, provided a cracker of a match on Saturday night as the visiting Hoppers rallied from a 2-0 deficit to claim a 3-2 win on a late goal from current EPLWA goalWA.net goalKING Junior Garcia.

Devin Leon and Mikey Ramos put the host Spokane Shadow up by two in the first half-hour of the contest, but two goals in the next 10 minutes pulled visiting Yakima, the club’s historic foe, even as they eventually came away with the 3-2 road win on a 90th minute dagger from Junior Garcia at Spokane Falls CC Stadium in front of 417.

Yakima’s winner was stunning, from the timing to the effort. Junior Garcia collected the ball at midfield and, with plenty of space, ripped a line-drive shot from about 32 yards that soared past Lang’s effort for the save. It was Garcia’s third goal in as many matches.

Cesar Rodriguez scored Yakima’s equalizer and assisted on the other two Hoppers goals.
