SILVERDALE, WA — Until you get that first goal, it seems like you’ll never score. Now that the WestSound FC Men have that first counter, and win, Graham Davidson is hopeful that momentum can build this Saturday night May 17 when the Red and Black hosts the Spokane Shadow at 6 PM at Silverdale Stadium.
“The late winner was just what the boys needed to get them onto the right foot for the season, I feel. Hopefully the energy from the win at the weekend can transfer into this week’s home game,” Graham tells www.EPLWA.com.
There is no denying that the WestSound winner went against the overall run of play. “The win against Bellingham was tough. They kept the ball very well throughout the game and our goalkeeper Jordan Hadden did a superb job to deny them a goal,” says Davidson.

In the fateful late stages WSFC made the Hammers pay for their inability to convert.

“I remember looking up and seeing that it was the last few minutes of the game,” Davidson describes. “I guess frustration kicked in because I didn’t see a lot of the ball for the last ten minutes so I went looking for it in our own half. I looked around and I didn’t have any support when I picked up the ball, so I decided to take it on my own. I took the ball diagonally across the defense to draw them out of position and then I nipped the ball in-between the full back and center back when they weren’t expecting it. Once I got past them It was a straight line to goal. As soon as I hit the edge of the box I picked my head up to check the keeper’s position and picked my corner.” It was 1-0 WestSound FC in the 89th. That was the final.
Davidson is from Liverpool, but is in America for soccer —and education. “I am over here in America for college; I’ve just finished up my first year. So now I’m looking at my options to transfer to a four year school to play at.”
“I connected with the WestSound team through meeting Keith Sargent (head coach) when he was coaching the Olympic College (NWAACC) team this past fall. I am going to continue playing for the WestSound team this season.”
