WENATCHEE, WA—In their fifth match in the Evergreen Premier League Seattle Stars FC have netted their first win. It came in the heat in Wenatchee in stoppage time.

Wenatchee United will play the rest of their home matches at Wenatchee Valley Community College. The scene on late Sunday afternoon was one of temporary bleachers and high temperatures in the low 90’s. The 4 PM kick-off time put players and fans (crowd announced at 296) in the heat of the day.
It was Seattle goalkeeper Scott Barnum who came up big first. Barnum stopped a 12th-minute Wenatchee penalty kick.
Still the home side pushed on, and they were rewarded when Eduardo Perez gave the Capitals a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute.
Wenatchee could not make the advantage last until halftime, though. Rob Lansche scored his first goal for Seattle in the 39th to make it 1-1.
It stayed that way for over 50 minutes of playing time. Just as it was signaled that two minutes of extra time were to be added, Lansche  snuck through the home defense and put the Stars ahead 2-1.
WUFC (1-5-0) had not answer in the waning seconds and Seattle (1-3-1) earned their first EPLWA victory while jumping out of last place and into sixth in the standings.
The Stars host Spokane on Saturday June 7 at 5 PM at Starfire Stadium. Wenatchee hosts Vancouver Victory Sunday June 8 at 4 PM at Wenatchee Valley CC.
