Yakima hammers Bellingham 6-0

YAKIMA, WA— On June 8th Bellingham United crushed Yakima’s Hoppers 8-2 at Civic Stadium as Tyler Bjork scored six goals. On Saturday night July 5 at Marquette Stadium YUFC got in the last word with their own rout, 6-0 over the visiting Hammers.

Bellingham’s slim title hopes are even slimmer after the result, though they are not yet mathematically eliminated.

Yakima United continued their high-scoring ways as Jesse Esquivel and Hector Valdovinos both scored twice. Valdovinos keeps his goalKING hopes alive as he improves to nine goals on the year, two behind Bellingham’s Bjork. Esquivel continues his blazing recent form and now has six goals.

The win improves the Hoppers to 5-7-1 on the year, on 16 points and in 5th place. The loss drops Bellingham to 6-5-1 on 19 points. The Hammers slip to 4th place due to the lopsided loss as their goal differential takes a hit and drops to +4. The match drew 270 fans.
