BELLINGHAM, WA— Bellingham United had their best-ever finish in the Evergreen Premier League (EPLWA) in 2016 when the club finished second in the table. The 2017 campaign looks promising as the Hammers have brought a batch of new players in, including two standouts: Eleazar Galvan (second all-time leading league scorer) and Brady Ulen (Champion with Spokane Shadow, multiple Defensive Player of the Week winner.) Western Washington University Vikings Men’s Soccer has a strong connection with Bellingham United. Bellingham is also a city that players love to live and play in. So maybe it’s not such a surprise that Vikings end up hanging around the town over the summer and competing in Black and White.
Eleazar Galvan and Brady Ulen were already stars in the Evergreen Premier League when they transferred into Western. The two are seniors who have played their final matches for the Vikings. Both guys also turned out for indoor soccer last winter and helped lead the Hammers to a second straight Western Indoor Soccer League (WISL) Championship. Now for the first time they will play in the EPLWA wearing Hammers kits this summer.
Galvan played for Wenatchee FC previously, where he scored 24 goals for the former Capitals of the EPLWA who folded during the off-season. Other former Wenatchee players are also on the Hammers 2017 roster: Eduardo Perez and Olegario Orozco.
Ulen has an EPLWA title on his resume’ (Spokane Shadow, 2015) and also two Defensive Player of the Week awards to go along with the recent Bellingham indoor title. The Hammers will see Ulen on the outdoor pitch for the first time this season, and he’ll bring experience, versatility and athleticism that will undoubtedly bolster the Hammers defense.
Here are the rosters the Hammers posted for preseason matches April 21 and 23.
