BREMERTON, WA— The Olympic Force are adding player spotlights to their roster page as they gather talent to compete in the 2017 Evergreen Premier League campaign. (Cover photo: Jason Beck. Olympic Force graphic.)
The Force are shining a spotlight on their players, and you can see the posts here. Olympic will play in the “Rumble in the Rainforest” on Saturday April 22 in Port Angeles against Peninsula College Pirates (NWAC) and fellow EPLWA side Seattle Stars.
Diego Aceves is the standard for what being a ‘home town player’ in the Evergreen Premier League means. The South Kitsap High School (Port Orchard) graduate has played for the Force for several years both indoors and out. He has scored 6 goals in EPLWA play and dished out numerous assists. The Force spotlight page on Diego says “Diego “The Magic Man” Aceves has been making Force fans cheer for almost 3 full years now. A South Kitsap High School talent that took his career to First Team Selection heights at PLU has featured in almost every men’s Force game, indoor and outdoor, since our first season.
The roster posted by the Force also sees names like Miles Nilsen, who is the all-time outdoor leader in goals scored for Olympic with 10, and Leo Potts, who is one of the few West Sound players who will be playing a 4th straight season in the EPLWA. Potts played for WestSound FC in 2014 and after that club folded moved on over to the Force for 2015 and 2016.
Bellevue’s Bennett Bugbee has found his way to Bremerton via Pacific Lutheran University. The darting midfielder adds dimensions of speed and counter attacking to the Force.
The Force are contenders indoors in the Western Indoor Soccer League, having gone to the final two straight seasons. Perhaps this spring and summer they will get increased input from some of that team’s best, including Enrique Hidalgo, Kevin Flavin, and Alhassan Awudu, among others.
The Force open the season April 30 at French Field in Kent against Seattle Stars FC.
