BELLINGHAM, WA— The Evergreen Premier League (EPLWA) today announces that two Vancouver Victory players have been selected as the first Players of the Week for the 2017 season.
On Sunday April 30 at Civic Stadium in Bellingham the Vancouver Victory claimed a 5-0 win over Bellingham United as they begun defense of their 2016 EPLWA Championship. Leading the way on offense was Timur Zhividze, who controlled the match with 4 goals and an assist. Stopping the Hammers at the other end was goalkeeper Jordan Farr, who stretched for several late saves to record the shutout.
It’s no wonder the two Corban University Warriors are the featured images on the school’s soccer page. Now they both have custom EPLWA POTW socks headed their way. Look out on campus.
OFFENSE – TIMUR ZHIVIDZE (V2FC)
Timur Zhividze scored goals in the 22nd, 33rd, 38th and 72nd (penalty kick) minutes for the Victory. Then he added an assist on the fifth V2FC goal in the 80th minute.
“Timur is an incredible attacking talent,” says Vancouver Head Coach Troy Ready. “Every time that he gets the ball you anticipate that something special is about to happen and often that is the case.”
DEFENSE – JORDAN FARR (V2FC)
Jordan Farr got high praise for his performance from a unique source – the opposing Head Coach. “Jordan Farr was excellent in the frame for Vancouver in earning the shutout,” says Lance Calloway of Bellingham United. “He had to make a few great saves and his range was very good as he broke up several BUFC chances before they fully developed.”
Vancouver’s Ready agrees. “Jordan brings such a calming presence as a goalkeeper. He is proficient with balls in the air, an excellent distributor with his feet and on top of all that makes big saves at big moments during the match.”
