BELLINGHAM, WA— The Oly Town Artesians (1-1-1) have won their first match in the Evergreen Premier League after they made a first-half goal stand up for a 1-0 win over Bellingham United (2-2-0) on Sunday May 14 at Civic Stadium.
The two clubs met the previous week in Lacey with the Hammers coming back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to win it 3-1. This time the home-standing Hammers put plenty of pressure on the Artesians defense and had numerous chances to get a tying goal – but Oly Town stopper JJ Olson was up to the task and the visitors scored the big win.

The result meant something to the Artesians beyond the outdoor league as well. In three seasons of play against each other in the Western Indoor Soccer League (wISL) Oly Town had never beaten Bellingham United. The Hammers hold a 6-0-0 edge indoors. Now the string of seven in all leagues is broken.
The goal that did it? Jake Zimmerman’s follow-up in the 34th minute. Jamie Barnwell’s shot from distance ate up Bellingham keeper Bryce Logan and just trickled away from his body enough to allow Jake Zimmerman to pounce on it and poke it into the goal.
