BELLINGHAM, WA— The Evergreen Premier League today announces that Seattle Stars striker Tyler Bjork and Bellingham United defender Nick Morgan have been selected as the Offensive and Defensive EPLWA Players of the Week for July 9, 2017.
TYLER BJORK (OFFENSE) – Seattle Stars FC
It’s not really a surprise that Tyler Bjork is the Offensive Player of the Week for the 3rd time this season and 5th time in his career. He scored a nifty free kick goal in the 4th minute Saturday against Vancouver and then notched the winner in the second half. His brace was complete when he used his fine touch to nutmeg the Vancouver goalkeeper, dance around him, and guide a silky-smooth goal into the net.
Bjork really just wants to concentrate on the race for the EPLWA title. His Seattle Stars are leading that race right now, and they can win it all by winning out. It’s up to the rest of us to acknowledge the amazing season Bjork is having. He’s got 13 goals in 10 matches with 4 left to play to beat the record he set last year when he scored 14.

But Bjork’s not counting goals. He’s counting wins.
“We knew coming into the game that it was going to be another tough test, as well as knowing that we control our own destiny in becoming champions,” Bjork says.
“Before the game started I got all the boys together and stressed that we need to treat each game as if it is our last and take it one at a time. All the pieces will fall together as long as our mental game is where it should be. I am just glad I was able to continue doing my job and put the ball in the back of the net.”

NICK MORGAN (DEFENSE) – Bellingham United
Bellingham United is hot on the heals of Seattle. They knew a win on Sunday at Civic Stadium against Washington Premier South Sound would keep them close. They had to solve the Shock attack to get it. Defender Nick Morgan was up to the challenge.
“Nick was the player of our match,” says Hammers Head Coach Lance Calloway.
“Nick had a stellar match in our back line as he continually cut out balls played in by South Sound as well as made some very timely tackles throughout the match. When he had the ball at his feet he initiated several attacks out of the back.”
Morgan, who plays his college ball with the Vikings at Western Washington, joined the Hammers in 2016. His EPLWA honor is a confirmation of his local one. He was already named Sports Clips Haircuts Hammer of the Match for his performance against the Shock.

About the Players of the Week honors
The Evergreen Premier League will be selecting an offensive and defensive Player of the Week each week during the 2017 season. The Players of the Week will be acknowledged with a pair of custom, unique socks featuring the EPLWA logo. The socks are from Rock’Em Apparel, the Official Provider of the weekly reward. The league worked with Rock’Em Apparel to finalize the look of the socks. The league logo is complemented by a rendering of George Washington in the State seal.
The phrase “Rock ‘Em” represents the willingness to achieve greatness; to go above and beyond limits,” says www.RockEmApparel.com.
Evergreen Premier League players will work to do just that for their clubs this season. The best of the best will have cool custom socks to show off around town for their efforts.
