The second to last weekend of Evergreen Premier League play for the 2017 season concluded on Sunday July 23rd with Bellingham United inching to within a single point of the top of the table and Washington Premier South Sound rising up to third.
Bellingham United 4-0 Olympic Force
BELLINGHAM, WA—The Hammers remained the hottest team in the league as they won their 4th straight match with a big first half outburst against the Olympic Force at Civic Stadium. Uriel Herrera got the winner for BUFC in the 17th minute. Near the end of the first half two more goals gave United breathing room. Herrera struck again the 42nd to make it 2-0 and then moments later Richard Henderson struck a shot that made it 3-0. The final goal came in the 89th minute from Kurtis Pederson.
The win improves the Hammers to 9-2-2 on the season with 29 points. They will be scoreboard watching this Saturday as the Seattle Stars travel to play Vancouver Victory. If the Stars falter (draw or a loss) the Hammers can win the EPLWA on Sunday July 30 when they host Yakima United.
Oly Town Artesians 0-1 WPSS Shock
OLYMPIA, WA— It has taken all the way until the end of the season for for these two geographical rivals to meet (an earlier match was postponed) but on Sunday July 23 they finally did and it was the Shock who claimed first blood over the Artesians. The winning goal came in the 73rd minute from Isidro Prado-Huerta.
On Saturday July 22 the final scores were Vancouver 1-3 Bellingham United, Seattle Stars 0-0 WPSS Shock and Olympic Force 2-1 Yakima United.
