Week 3: Huge Weekend for Hammers & Force

 

Bellingham United and the Oly-Pen Force had huge weekends with two wins apiece to move into first place in the Cascade and Rainier Conferences respectively. Here is a look at all of the Evergreen Premier League games from this weekend…


Bellingham United 4, Yakima United 3

Yakima jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind goals from Jose Juan Maldonado and Johnny Ramirez, but Bellingham outscored the Hoppers 4-1 after that including the game winner from Eleazar Galvan in the 88th minute. Camron Miller scored twice in the first half to get the Hammers level at halftime.

Oly-Pen Force 2, Washington Premier 1

Jackson Moore scored in first half stoppage time and Mitchell Balmer made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute and Oly-Pen held on for a 2-1 victory over last year’s league champions, Washington Premier, at Gordon Field on Saturday. Johnny Cano was credited with the assist on both Force goals. Marcus Martin and Cole Weaver split time in goal and allowed just a penalty kick goal by Eddie Na.

Oly Town Artesians 3, Tri-Cities Alliance 0

After a scoreless first half between the two clubs, the Oly Town Artesians exploded for two goals in the 49th minute – the first by Manny Nicasio and then Tino Pantaleon just moments later – and added a third in the 85th minute by Jesus Meraz-Rodriguez to win their first game of the season, 3-0 over the Tri-Cities Alliance. Oly goalkeeper JJ Olson made five saves in the shutout at Edgar Brown Stadium in Pasco.

Oly-Pen Force 5, Vancouver Victory 2

The Oly-Pen Force capped off their outstanding weekend by jumping out to a 4-0 lead within the first 15 minutes in a 5-2 victory at the Vancouver Victory on Sunday evening. Gilbert de la Luz and Joe Sammartino each scored twice in those first 15 minutes and Sam Ebner added another in the 34th. de la Luz added an assist to his total and Mitchell Balmer assisted on two of the five goals. All of the scoring came in the first half. Vancouver scored in the 36th minute on an own goal by the Force and Fernando Ibanez made it 5-2 in the 41st.

Bellingham 3, Seattle Stars 1

Richard Henderson scored twice on penalty kicks in the 80th and 89th minute and Eduardo Perez added a goal in the 90th minute to give Bellingham United a 3-1 win over the Seattle Stars at French Field on Sunday evening. Both teams played a scoreless first half before Gabriel Ruiz finally broke the deadlock in the 60th minute to make it 1-0 Seattle. But the two PKs by Henderson tied the game up 1-1 and gave the Hammers the late lead and the victory. Hector Gutierrez allowed just one goal between the pipes for Bellingham.
