EPLWA Players Of Week 2: Hammers’ Galvan & Artesians’ LaBranche

Bellingham’s big weekend and Oly Town’s shutout win in Tri-Cities have earned Eleazar Galvan and Collin LaBranche the Evergreen Premier League’s Player Of The Week award for week three as voted on by league coaches and operators.

Offense: A trip to Yakima followed up by a trip to Kent resulted in seven goals and six points for the Hammers and Eleazar Galvan was a big reason for their success. Galvan had two goals and two assists in Saturday’s 4-3 win at Yakima and then followed that up by drawing two penalties against Vancouver that resulted in two PK goals by Richard Henderson in their 3-1 win. Galvan, a Chelan native who played collegiality at Skagit Valley and Western Washington, was the 2015 EPLWA Goalking scoring 11 goals for Wenatchee FC. He now has 20 goals all-time in the EPLWA.

Defense: It’s been a surprising struggle for the talented Oly Town team that finished with the league’s third best record last year falling to 0-3-0 over the first two weeks, but they got everything going on their trip to Pasco shutting out the Alliance 3-0. A big reason was the play of Olympia native Collin LaBrance. Playing in his first game after graduating from Saint Martin’s last Saturday, LaBranche won every challenge according to the Oly Town coaching staff and improved the defense immensely leading Oly Town to their first win of the season.

Other nominees:
Offensive: Gil de la Luz (Oly-Pen), Tino Pantaleon (Oly Town)
Defensive: Camron Miller (Bellingham), Ryan Griffiths (Oly-Pen)
