EPLWA Players Of Week 6: Bellingham Duo Takes The Awards

Bellingham United is the only undefeated team left in the Evergreen Premier League sitting at 5-0-2 with a seven point cushion for the top spot in the Cascade Conference. Jason Conway’s squad has a really nice mix of talent and two of their top players have been honored by the EPLWA’s operators and coaches as their Players Of The Week for their 4-0 win over the Vancouver Victory in week six.

Offensive: Bellingham United is winning with a solid mix of veteran leadership and new talent, and nobody is more synonymous with Bellingham soccer than Richard Henderson. The Dundee, Scotland native scored two goals on Sunday against the Vancouver Victory and now has five this season and 22 for his EPLWA career. Henderson is always dangerous on the ball and has keen awareness around the box, scoring vital goals for the Hammers. United celebrated Henderson’s 100 goals across all competitions during the 2018-2019 Western Indoor Soccer League season.

Defensive: While Henderson provides the veteran leadership, goalkeeper Hector Gutierrez provides the new talent. The Lynden High School grad and Whatcom Community College product has played every minute in goal this season and has registered two shutouts, including the 4-0 win over Vancouver on Sunday. He has the Hammers undefeated at 5-0-2 and has allowed just seven goals in seven games.

Other nominees:
Offensive: Emilio Meraz-Rodriguez (Oly Town), Bubacar Touray (Washington Premier)
Defensive: Sawyer Price (Oly Town), Mike Arguello (Washington Premier)
