Week 3 Recap: Artesians, WPFC, Hoppers, Hammers Pick Up Wins

Spokane Shadow 1, Northstar Bellevue 1

The Spokane Shadow and Northstar Bellevue traded goals in the first half and then held firm over the final 50 minutes to each earn a point in a 1-1 draw in Spokane. Ian Schimandle started the scoring for the Shadow but Lazaro Vierrier equalized 17 minutes later. Andrew Huffman (Spokane) and Gheorghe Tonu (Northstar) kept the score tied in goal for the two teams. It is the third draw of the season for Spokane, who are 0-1-3, and the second draw for Northstar, who are 0-1-2.

Oly Town Artesians 3, Vancouver Victory 0

The Oly Town Artesians picked up their first win of the season after two draws with a 3-0 win in Vancouver. Cole Dobson put the Artesians up 1-0 in the 25th but the Victory kept it close until the 72nd minute when Isidro Prado-Huerta made it 2-0. Alec Zimmerman added a goal ten minutes later and Sawyer Price kept a clean sheet to move the Artesians to 1-0-2 this season. Vancouver fell to 0-1-2.

Washington Premier 2, Oly-Pen Force 0

Washington Premier made their 2022 season debut with a 2-0 win over the Oly-Pen Force. Both goals came early and in quick succession with Luke Sloan scoring in the 11th and Uriel Madrigal makinging 2-0 in the 18th. Goalkeepers Andrew Matheny and Ryan Saunders combined to hold on the rest of the way to keep the clean sheet. WA Premier are now 1-0-0 this season while the Force are 0-2-0.

Yakima United 4, PacNW 2

Yakima United built a 3-0 after 53 minutes and cruised to a 4-2 win over PacNW in Yakima on Saturday. Gonzalo Frausto put the Hoppers up 1-0 just five minutes into the game followed by goals by Raymundo Mendez and Luis Haro. Diego Andrade got PacNW on the board in the 54th but Nicolas Hernandez got it back to a three goal game in the 73rd. Chris Meyers scored a late goal for PacNW but Yakima held on to a 4-2 win. They are now 2-0-1 on the season and sit on top of the I-90 Division with seven points. PacNW fell to 0-1-1 so far.

Bellingham United 3, Everett Jets 0

Bellingham United handed the Everett Jets their first loss of the season with a 3-0 win in United’s first home game since claiming the 2021 EPLWA title at Orca Field. Goals from Hammers veterans Richard Henderson and Ivan Colin built a 2-0 lead and Ali Tomasi added one more near full time. Hector Gutierrez kept a clean sheet in goal for the Hammers, who improved to 1-0-1 this season while Everett fell to 2-1-0.
