EPLWA Players Of Week 5: Madsen Returns, Bellingham Defenders

2018 EPLWA Golden Booth winner Brandon Madsen made his first appearance for Washington Premier this week and promptly rocketed up the leading goal scorers list and Bellingham allowed just two goals in two games to take a four point lead in the Cascade Conference. EPLWA coaches and operators voted Madsen and two Bellingham defenders as their Players Of The Week for week five.

Offensive: Tri-Cities took a 1-0 lead on the road at Washington Premier on Sunday, but then Brandon Madsen took over scoring three unanswered goals and adding another one later to lead his squad to a 5-2 win. It the Saint Martin’s senior’s first appearance of the season after winning the league’s Golden Boot award with 10 goals last season. Thanks to that one four goal performance, Madsen sits just one goal off the goal scoring lead, just one behind PacNW’s Tyler Bjork.

Defensive: Bellingham took a four point lead over the Seattle Stars thanks to a 1-1 draw against the Stars and a 2-1 win over the Oly Town Artesians in Olympia on Sunday. Two Bellingham defenders, Spencer Wolfe and Camron Miller, were nominated together by their coaching staff, who were unable to separate the two. Miller, a Whatcom CC and Western Washington product, and the Whitworth alum Wolfe, have formed a strong backbone for United, who have yet to lose more than halfway through the season.

Other nominees:
Offensive: Eleazar Galvan (Bellingham United)
Defensive: Sebastian Navarro (Washington Premier)
